Episode 3 | What Women Want: More Money (aka The Negotiation Episode)

Question

Hey, Work Wives, this is Claudia from Dayton. I've got a salary question for you and y'all have great advice.

I've gone through the interview process with a company and they've already done a background check, et cetera. Basically, I'm just waiting to hear an offer or if they went with someone else.

I just received this email from the recruiter. It says, "I'm reaching out to confirm your salary requirements as we move forward with the hiring process. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out."

How do I go about answering this the right way? We haven't discussed salary at all, but their job posting said 50 to 60. Would it price me out of the running if I said my range was 60 to 70k? Should I even respond to the number? Thanks for your help!

Summary

The number one question asked of Vanessa & Holland has to do with salary. Understandable. Every two weeks we get a stark reminder of a brief moment that either went our way or it didn’t. It’s time to remove that uncertainty and get you want you really want: more money.

Vanessa & Holland are rewriting the rules of corporate salary negotiation and (turns out) it’s not even that scary.
